EasyOven Cultures: India

Happy January! Don't you just love New Years; fill of hopeful resolutions, lots of champagne and full of endless opportunities. It's a fresh start or a source of motivation from the year before so why not try cooking some cultured foods to look forward to every month?!

 

I love food, especially food with flavour and depth to it, so one of my favourite cuisines has to be Indian. I have wonderful Indian friends and whenever you walk into their home the smells of the wonderful spices and curries greet you at the door. There is always something new on the menu and I am often given a container full of food to go home with! Ok ......... I could refuse to take their food but the smell and taste is irresistible!

 

I have found Indian food is cooked with love and care. It doesn’t have to be difficult and often the best meals are the quick and easy ones. I have to say some of the best Indian food I have ever cooked is in the EasyOven™. Because of the great heat retention properties, you can never overcook the food. It remains more tender, moist and without doubt better tasting.  Reducing the amount of time your pot sits over the direct heat is certainly the most major factor.


 

 

BEEF CURRY

 

Preparation: 2 minutes > Boiling Time: 2 minutes > Ready in: 1 hour Serves 3-4

 

Ingredients:

 

750g Beef, cubed

1 large clove of garlic, diced

1 large onion, diced

1 Tbsp olive oil

1 carrot, diced

1 medium potato, diced

400g butter beans, caned

1 Tbsp curry powder

2 tsp beef stock

2 cups water

 

Method:

 

1. Place onion, garlic and olive oil into the pot and sautè until brown.

2. Add beef and cook till golden brown.

3. Add curry powder and stir in, then add all remaining ingredients.

4. Cover with lid and gently slow boil for 15 minutes, stirring intermittently. 

5. Place entire pot into the EasyOven™ for the required minimum cooking time.

6. Serve on a bed of rice with your favourite salad

 

Tip: This recipe is equally tasty with chicken or make it a vegetarian dish. Serve this with White Rice - cooked in the EasyOven of course!

 

 

 

 

 

WHITE RICE

 

Preparation: 2 minutes > Boiling Time: 2 minutes > Ready in: 1 hour Serves 3-4

Ingredients:


1 cup White Rice
1½ cups Water

Method:


1.     Place water and rice into a pot
2.     Bring to the boil and boil for 2 minutes.
3.     Remove from heat and place entire pot into the EasyOven™ and close.
4.     Leave for 1 hour and then serve.

 

 

My passion for using the EasyOven is clear so If you are like me in the past, dinner time is a bit of a blur, children hungry and asking questions about homework, dog is starving and I have to get some information for a meeting the next day…….  EasyOven reduces the cooking time between 83% - 90% so a big stew that would normally take 2.5-3 hours cooking on the stove only takes 15minutes. Then the pot is put inside the EasyOven it continues to cook without me having to rush back and for the checking on it. The result is no more burnt food, no spillage no excess water used and a family happy!
